New Madonna ‘Hard Candy’ Tracks

10 04 2008

From Hard Candy, Madonna’s soon to be released follow-up to Confessions on a Dancefloor, here, are some delicious, fresh, and spankin’ new demos (they’re new to me, anyways).

Oh, and a ‘4 Minutes’ remix… better then the original? (I mean, it wouldn’t take much, let’s be honest…)

Madonna Graces Vanity Fair Cover

27 03 2008

My opinions of Madges’ latest “image” (a boxer in a candy shop?) have been a lil’ on the negative side.

 madonna-vanity-fair.jpg

I eat my words. She looks amazing on the cover of of Vanity Fair’s May 2008 issue. Obvs airbrushed, but not in the overly transparent way. And that hair is, wow wow wow wow! She hardly even looks age inappropriate, and that’s huge for her these days. Maybe even, dare I say, the hottest she has looked since “Bedtime Stories”? Am I alone in this???

BUT (and, isn’t there always a but?), what does she have to do with a “Green Issue”?

**UPDATE: read the full interview here!

Madonna’s “Hard Candy” Cover

14 03 2008

madonna_hard_candy_cover.jpg

I won’t even give an opinion on this one… because what does it matter what lil’ old me thinks? It’s Madonna, and she doesn’t give a fig what we think… or maybe she cares too much? She’s obviously still trying to prove age stereotypes wrong.

I mean, we can’t really blame her, she’s probably having a hot flash and is in the process of ripping all her clothes off in a fit of annoyance. Menopause is a bitch!

Britney Spears: Break The Ice (Official)

12 03 2008

I think we all know why Britney (or rather, her record label) decided to do an anime video. The sad thing is, bitch has never looked better!

Must suck when your anime charter can lip-sync better then you!

Ashlee Simpson’s “Bittersweet” Cover

12 03 2008

Apparently, Ashlee (or, her “people” i.e: her dad) was the only person in the world to think Britney’s “Blackout” cover art was anything worthwhile. SO worthwhile that she fashioned her newest album cover after it. I thought Ashlee got a nose job in order to make her look less awkward and more sophisticated? This cover is not doing that persona any favours. It is so blatantly created in Photoshop, that I could probably make one just as good. Tsk.

Oh, and will the 80’s just go away already?

Madonna’s New Promo Pic

Very Xtina “Dirrty”, non?

This leaves me to ponder: Has it all been done? Has Madge gone through every single possible theme? Is there no more originality left in this world? Sorry… little Carrie Bradshaw moment there.

Janet Jackson: Discipline

24 02 2008

janet-photo-promo-jackson-2008.jpg

While I love the title of this album (throws me back to the “Rhythm Nation” days) I can’t say I much care for actual content. And interludes? Still with this JJ? Those should have started and ended with “Janet”.

Give it a listen yourself by downloading here.

GA @ The Brits Sans Nadine!

20 02 2008

girls-aloud-brits-2008.jpg

My favorite Brit girl group didn’t win any Brits, nor any fashion awards in my eyes, and Nadine was a no-show… word at the goss factory is she lost her passport. I smell Geri Halliwell version 2.0. Now, we wait.

Blog of the Mo’

26 01 2008

electro.jpg

It’s rare to come across a blog that is cool enough to make it into your bookmarks let alone your “Blogroll”.

Electro Retro is one of those gems. It features a tonne of album downloads (kudo’s to featuring my new favorite band “Private“) along with the freshest on my favorite artists *New Young Pony Club anyone?*. He impressed me immensely with his exclusive hook up to the new Goldfrapp promo shoot, and the latest on Kylie’s new single “In Your Arms” (my fave on X) complete with downloads of brand new remixes!

This one is my pick for Blog of the Mo’.

Kylie Xposed: The Interview

17 01 2008

Herald Sun, Australia: January 17, 2008

KYLIE Minogue took a realistic approach to her breast cancer diagnosis, manages to treat with grace the paparazzi who shadow her daily. But one thing’s got her stewing. When dozens of work-in-progress songs from her X album leaked online en masse last May, Minogue found herself in an unfamiliar mood: livid. “Absolutely livid,” she clarifies.

Sources believe someone in a recording studio swiped three discs of demo tunes for X and posted them online.

Conspiracy theories suggest Minogue HQ may have leaked the songs as some kind of superhighway road test.

Minogue nearly chokes at the claim.

“No! No no no no no. No!”

That’s a no then.

Some of the leaked songs wound up on X despite many Minogue fans enjoying them (illegally) for months before their official debut.

One of her collaborations with Scottish dance producer Calvin Harris, In My Arms, was among the leaked tracks — as well as album tracks Stars and Sensitized, the latter written by Guy Chambers.

Based around a sample of Serge Gainsbourg’s Bonnie & Clyde, Chambers originally wrote the song for his former partner Robbie Williams, then roped in Cathy Dennis (who wrote Minogue’s Can’t Get You Out of My Head) to Kylie-fy the song.

Other leaked songs — Lose Control, Fall for You and I Am Ready — have been selected by fans as preferable to some chosen for the album. Indeed, some particularly devoted fans have made their own videos for the unreleased songs and posted them on YouTube.

“A lot of those songs were just demos,” Minogue says, “and then I see these kids making videos for them and putting them up (online) and I’m going, ‘No! That’s not right! Those songs aren’t finished!’

“I think any artist would be annoyed with that. It wasn’t just the trust factor of the leaks — because none of us really knows how it happened — but it takes up everyone’s time trying to work out what went on. Still, it was a lesson learnt.” Read the rest of this entry »
