New Kylie Video: All I See

Well, it’s over kids. If Kylie had any hope of breaking into the US market, she’s killed her chance.  It looks like an old C&C Music Factory video… and we all know what happened to them, right.

So disappointed.

 

 

Kylie’s X Flops in America

The numbers are in, and it comes as no surprise that Kylie’s latest album X is an American failure.

Kylie Minogue’s X has debuted on the Billboard album charts at #139.

The record sold a very disappointing 5,500 copies. OUCH.

While there were some major misteps with her Aussie invasion this time around (awful performances, no supporting video to the single ‘All I See’, and just overall bad styling), she deserved so much better then #139. Those Americans don’t know what they are missing out on. Le sigh.

Kylie to Marry Oliver…?

This post could only add fuel to a hearsay rumour, however the AP is reporting that a Czech website has announced that  Kylie is to marry… wait for it… Oliver Martinez??!! Last I heard, they had broken up (over a year ago now) because he allegedly cheated on her.  This is the man not many people trust – Mira Sorvino’s mother (Mira and Olivier had a volatile relationship) once said of Kylie and Olivier: “If it’s commitment she’s after, she dating the wrong man.” His rumoured indiscretions with Michelle Rodriguez and others would appear to support that.

Who knows… and Kylie has always been extremely private, and we’ve never known much about her personal life (unfortch). I’m Not Obsessed wrote this post back in February about a possible reconciliation complete with photos of her supposedly leaving his home. Where the hell was I during this hot goss?

Let’s file this one under unsubstantiated gossip for now, however, my interest is definitely piqued! (the photos of them together are old, so settle down).

Kylie @ The Brits: Then and Now

My favorite live performance by Kylie (and possibly, by anyone) was at the 2002 Brits. She rocked “Can’t Get You Out of my Head/Blue Monday” (above). It was innovative, sexy, and a complete SHOW STOPPER!

This year, she fell flat. I can hardly believe it’s the same person! Kylie circa 2008 still has hot beats (“X” is a fantastic album), but performance wise, she is lacking. Her performance of “Wow” at this years Brits (below) was for lack of a better word, meh. The one constant? Masked backup dancers in space suits.

At least she won for Best International Female!

It’s rare to come across a blog that is cool enough to make it into your bookmarks let alone your “Blogroll”.

 Electro Retro is one of those gems. It features a tonne of album downloads (kudo’s to featuring my new favorite band “Private“) along with the freshest on my favorite artists *New Young Pony Club anyone?*. He impressed me immensely with his exclusive hook up to the new Goldfrapp promo shoot, and the latest on Kylie’s new single “In Your Arms” (my fave on X) complete with downloads of brand new remixes!

Kylie Xposed: The Interview

KYLIE Minogue took a realistic approach to her breast cancer diagnosis, manages to treat with grace the paparazzi who shadow her daily. But one thing’s got her stewing. When dozens of work-in-progress songs from her X album leaked online en masse last May, Minogue found herself in an unfamiliar mood: livid. “Absolutely livid,” she clarifies.

Sources believe someone in a recording studio swiped three discs of demo tunes for X and posted them online.

Conspiracy theories suggest Minogue HQ may have leaked the songs as some kind of superhighway road test.

Minogue nearly chokes at the claim.

“No! No no no no no. No!”

That’s a no then.

Some of the leaked songs wound up on X despite many Minogue fans enjoying them (illegally) for months before their official debut.

One of her collaborations with Scottish dance producer Calvin Harris, In My Arms, was among the leaked tracks — as well as album tracks Stars and Sensitized, the latter written by Guy Chambers.

Based around a sample of Serge Gainsbourg’s Bonnie & Clyde, Chambers originally wrote the song for his former partner Robbie Williams, then roped in Cathy Dennis (who wrote Minogue’s Can’t Get You Out of My Head) to Kylie-fy the song.

Other leaked songs — Lose Control, Fall for You and I Am Ready — have been selected by fans as preferable to some chosen for the album. Indeed, some particularly devoted fans have made their own videos for the unreleased songs and posted them on YouTube.

“A lot of those songs were just demos,” Minogue says, “and then I see these kids making videos for them and putting them up (online) and I’m going, ‘No! That’s not right! Those songs aren’t finished!’

“I think any artist would be annoyed with that. It wasn’t just the trust factor of the leaks — because none of us really knows how it happened — but it takes up everyone’s time trying to work out what went on. Still, it was a lesson learnt.”
